Softener coats the fibres and kills absorbency. Wash warm with a little detergent and air dry or low tumble.
Dragging flat is fastest and safest on a freshly rinsed car; blot only around delicate badges and trim.
A clean towel on a properly rinsed car will not. Keep it off the floor and launder it after every use.
